LGB Alliance USA is not just an organization; it is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of unity amidst diversity.
In a world where complexity often overshadows simplicity, where gray areas abound, and perspectives diverge, the journey of LGB Alliance USA has reached a significant milestone—three years of unwavering dedication. As a collective of lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals, our purpose has been clear: to rebuild the LGB community while seeking to protect future generations of LGB kids from self-harm via gender medicalization. This work is unnecessarily fraught. Slings and arrows seem to come from all sides. Still, we will not be deterred because the LGB community and the legacy of LGB history are worth fighting to protect.
As a group, we do not ascribe ourselves to a political party or the goals of any political party, even though we may, individually, be affiliated with specific political parties.
LGB Alliance USA is not comprised exclusively of liberals or conservatives. Rather, we are exclusively lesbian, gay, or bisexual. We aim to be true advocates for all people who are LGB. At LGB Alliance USA, we rejoice in the gray area that exists among left, right, centrist (and everything in between) LGB people. Unfortunately, it’s easy to get caught up in divisive rhetoric and one-upmanship, but please remember that we are all here for the same reasons. We will likely not all agree on everything. Rather, the point is to share dialogue and fight to advance LGB rights and protections without vilifying each other for opposing viewpoints.
We also value our heterosexual allies who understand that LGB and TQIA+ are not one monolithic community. These are our true allies: those who do not speak for or over LGB people about the needs of our community. These true allies understand (or seek to understand) how our community has been adversely affected by gender ideology and don’t invoke LGB when deriding gender activism.
To succeed, we need to be patient with each other and, once again, learn to revel in the gray area. The gray area is a good place to be -- it’s where we learn and grow.
Part of how we got to this unsavory place as a community is because we allowed an echo chamber to be the only voices we heard and the only spaces we traversed. We aim to shatter the echo chambers as we work side by side as homosexuals and bisexuals seeking to rebuild our community and provide a safe space for same-sex attracted people to land in this increasingly hostile landscape of LGBTQIA+.
We also value our heterosexual allies who understand that LGB and TQIA+ are not one monolithic community. We need allies in this fight, but moreover, as all parties are invested in quelling the effects of gender ideology on modern society, we need to learn how to work together, unabashedly. We need to dance proudly in the gray area and welcome challenging discussions. We need to build bridges and work across the aisle. We may disagree with another's perspective, but it should not be our goal to convert others to our views; rather, to have an open mind and accept that it's okay to agree to disagree. Further, the fastest way to move the needle with the person with whom we are communicating is to listen, ask questions, and engage thoughtfully.
To succeed, we need to be patient with each other and, once again, learn to revel in the gray area. The gray area is a good place to be -- it’s where we learn and grow.
We are just getting started here at LGB Alliance USA. As we embark on the path ahead, fueled by the passion of our supporters and volunteers, we stand at the precipice of progress. The road may be winding, the discussions challenging, but our commitment remains steadfast. LGB Alliance USA is not just an organization; it is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of unity amidst diversity. We extend our deepest gratitude to all who have stood with us, and we invite you to continue dancing alongside us in the ever-shifting shades of the gray area. Together, we can shape a world where dialogue transcends division, where bridges are built, and where the luminous tapestry of LGB history and community flourishes. Let us march onward, forging ahead with an open mind, a courageous heart, and an unyielding resolve as we continue “leading the fight for same-sex rights.”
Thank you for the important work you do in "rebuild(ing) the LGB community while seeking to protect future generations of LGB kids from self-harm via gender medicalization." It's painful for those of us who were active in the historical gay rights movement to see it co-opted with a ridiculous alphabet mishmash by gender extremists. I'm grateful for every LGB person who makes the effort to set folks straight (so to speak) about the difference between us and them, and all who speak out to protect young people (especially girls, these days) from "gender affirming care" and women (especially lesbians) from male trespass into their historically protected spaces.
